I had an old 2-in-1 laptop that wasn’t really usable anymore. The screen was gone, the hinge wasn’t reliable, and using it as a laptop just didn’t make sense.
But the internals still worked.
So instead of fixing it or throwing it away, I decided to turn it into something else: a small, dedicated mini PC for watching movies with a projector.
The process involved taking it apart, figuring out what to keep, designing a structure to hold everything together, and building a custom enclosure around it. There were mistakes along the way, especially with measurements and setup, but that’s part of how these projects take shape.
What I like about builds like this is that they shift the purpose of an object. It stops being what it was originally designed for and becomes something more personal.
